Textile entrepreneurs of Ludhiana, especially in the industrial area of Bahadur K Road, have raised their voices strongly against poor infrastructure. They have said that they will not pay any kind of taxes to the civic body if the road construction work does not start immediately.
The owners of these textile firms are irked over the poor condition of roads.
Apparel Resources had also raised poor infrastructure issue of Ludhiana which has many large as well as small and medium size companies in textile and garment industry. Ludhiana remains a leading hub for knitted garments– for domestic as well as export market.

As per media reports, the members of Bahadur Ke Textile and Knitwear Association have said that despite several requests to the officials for road construction, nothing concrete has been done so far.
The owners also announced that they will protest outside Zone A municipal corporation (MC) office and have also threatened to put boards in the area that they would not pay tax to the civic body and elected representatives will not be allowed to enter the area.
As per industry estimates, this area has more than 500 textile and allied industry units making variety of garments and fabrics, amongst others. Trade association representatives have already met local administration as well as political leaders also, but as there is no progress, they are forced to take such steps.
