Flipkart’s effort to foray into omnichannel sales strategies continues!
The Walmart-led e-commerce giant Flipkart, has opened its first ever offline experience store in Bangalore.
The space, focusing primarily on furniture, extends over an area of 1,800 square feet and offers a ‘touch and feel’ furniture shopping experience.
Post revamping its furniture vertical online, Flipkart’s FurniSure Experience Centres are working with Google to make the augmented reality app.
Google Lens is a part of the experience through which potential walk-in customers can find out all about a product by using their smartphones with the Google Lens support.
Customers have to scan a special icon for each product and item at the experience centre, which will then take them to the product’s listing on Flipkart where they can see its features and compare it with other options.
Furniture is one of the fastest growing verticals in online markets, especially after the entry of Ikea into Indian markets. Bringing this kind of differentiation through experiential shopping, is a move that will benefit Flipkart in tapping the millennial generation.
The vast growth is majorly driven by the digitisation wave, growing income in the hands of millennials and improving real estate scenario, and this has helped in the expansion of the market size for online furniture in India to US $ 17 billion in 2018.
