Despite all challenges, some of the medium-level exporters are increasing their capacities. One such exporter is the Delhi-based Affordable Exports.
The firm has now started its new unit in Noida.
The new unit, spread over an area of 800 sq. metres, became operational last month. The factory has 150 stitching machines and has now added some new clients to its repertoire.
Rajiv Kapoor, MD of the company told Apparel Resources, “The new factory will also cater to our existing as well as new buyers who are mainly from Europe. As far as market conditions are concerned, business is there but it is totally a buyer’s market and one has to work accordingly; we are working on the same.”
Expecting 25 per cent growth, Rajiv further adds that he has got some such orders which were earlier going to China.
Moving further, the company is also in the process of being WRAP-certified. Rajiv shared that having a unit in Noida is beneficial as it has low minimum wages compared to Delhi and Gurgaon, and it is comparatively easy to make a unit compliant in Noida.
Manufacturing womenswear since 1986, the company works a lot on prints and is known for its creativeness. Rajiv concluded “We have strong control over our overheads and do our best to fit in price given by buyers. Banks are not at all supporting, which is an issue especially for SMEs like us.”
